Senna is a natural laxative made from the leaves and fruit of the senna plant. It is used to treat constipation and works by stimulating the muscles in your gut. Senna takes about 8 hours to work and it’s best to take it at bedtime so it works overnight. The recommended dosage is 2-4 tablets at bedtime for adults, 1-2 tablets at bedtime for children over 6 years and half to one tablet in the morning for children aged 2 – 6 years.
